Authorizing with LMS365 API key in Swagger and Postman

Before users can start using LMS365 APIs, they’ll need to register with a relevant API key. This article provides guideline on where to get the API key and how to authorize with it in Swagger and Postman.

Getting the LMS365 API key

LMS365 enables global admins to generate multiple LMS365 API keys with permissions level of two types - Read Only or Full Control. The key with the Full Control type can be used for authorization allowing to use LMS365 APIs.  

To get the API key with the relevant permissions level navigate to the LMS365 Admin Center > Global Settings API Key Management, select the API key and click the Copy API Key option to copy it to the clipboard. Now the API key can be used for authorization.


Only LMS admins and Microsoft 365 global admins have access to the Global Settings of LMS365. You can find more about LMS365 API management here




Authorizing with API key in Swagger

After you get the relevant API key, you can authorize in Swagger with this key. To do this, navigate to, scroll down to the LMS365 Cloud API and select the green 'Authorize' button.



The authorization panel will open. Under Basic authorization paste the copied API key both in the Username and Password fields and select 'Authorize'. Now you are done to use LMS365 APIs.



To log out select the green 'Authorize' button and click 'Logout'.




Authorizing with API key in Postman

To authorize in Postman, navigate to the "Authorization" tab, choose the 'Basic Auth' type from the Type drop-down, and paste the copied API key both in the Username and Password fields. The authorization data will be automatically included in request and used each time you send a request.
