Introduction
The LMS365 quiz functionality enables you to create and deploy a variety of quizzes as an intermediate or final test. Adding quizzes to courses and training plans enables you to track the progress of learners and test their knowledge.
This article describes how to edit and delete quizzes at catalog level, how to manage quizzes from within a course, how to track learners' quiz progress, and how to view question statistics.
Edit quizzes at catalog level
Required role: catalog admin or course admin.
Catalog admin can view and edit all quizzes in the catalog, regardless of the quiz sharing option settings.
Course admin can view and edit quizzes:
- That are set as shared to the catalog.
- Created by them, regardless of the sharing option set in the quiz.
- That are set as shared to courses for which this user is an admin.
NOTE
Any changes made to quizzes are applied to all courses in the catalog that employ this quiz.
To edit a quiz at catalog level, follow these steps:
1. In the LMS365 Admin Center, go to Content > Quizzes > select a quiz > from the Actions panel, select Edit quiz. The quiz configuration panel opens.
2. On the quiz configuration panel, make the relevant changes to the structure of the quiz. From here, you can also add, delete or edit individual questions.
IMPORTANT
If you change the Quiz passing score in the Details and settings tab, the updated passing score will apply to learners' new and incomplete attempts. Changes will be applied when a learner continues an attempt and submits an answer. The passing score won't change for completed attempts.
To edit questions from a question pool directly from a quiz:
- If the Specific selection method was used to add questions to the quiz, you can edit and delete the questions from the quiz editor. Any changes applied to questions via the quiz editor won't affect the question pool.
- If the Random selection method was used to add questions to the quiz, the questions in the quiz editor are grouped together under the question pool title. In brackets after the title, you can find the number of questions from this question pool that are used in the quiz. Selecting the Edit icon opens the Question selection panel. Selecting the Delete icon deletes the group of questions. Any changes made here won't affect the question pool.
For more information about how to add questions from a question pool, see this article.
If this quiz is used in one or more courses, the Used in courses tab is displayed at the top of the panel. The number of courses that employ this quiz is displayed in brackets in the tab heading. Select this tab to see which courses employ this quiz.
Selecting the relevant course will redirect you to the course home page. Selecting a name in the Contacts column enables you to send an email to them.
3. Select Save. The previous settings of the quiz can't be restored. Alternatively, from the Save drop-down menu, select Save and close and you'll be redirected to the Quizzes page, where all quizzes in the current course catalog are displayed.
If you Cancel the changes, you'll be warned that changes you've made will be lost. Select OK to proceed or Cancel. If a required field is empty, you'll see the notification "The field is required." near the relevant field and the quiz won't be saved. Complete the required fields to save the quiz.
After editing a quiz, data on learners' progress is retained. The changes will be applied only to new and incomplete attempts. Learners can continue an attempt or start a new one.

View learners' details
The View learners' details action enables you to view progress on the selected quiz for all course learners. From here, the number of attempts made by each learner, details of each attempt, and report download are also available.
NOTE
To view these details for users who aren't anymore enrolled in the course, the admin must re-enroll them in the course.
To view learners' details:
1. In the LMS365 Admin Center, go to Training Management > Select a course > Course Management > Manage Course Content.
2. From the course Content section, select the relevant quiz to open its Actions panel.
3. From the Actions panel, select View learners' details.
4. From the View learners' details page, expand the name of individual learners to see information about their quiz attempts. To view answers submitted by the learner, select the eye icon in the Actions column.
To download the information about quiz details, select Export to Excel.
You can find the following information in the columns:
- In the Name column, the names of the course learners.
- In the Passed column, Yes or No to indicate whether learners passed the quiz: their last attempt to complete the quiz (when the information is collapsed) or all their attempts (when the information is expanded).
- In the Score column, the learners' score as a percentage: their last attempt to complete the quiz (when the information is collapsed) or all their attempts (when the information is expanded).
- In the Passing Score column, the passing score of the quiz.
- In the Status column, the current progress status of the attempt: Not Started, In Progress, Completed, Failed, or Out of Attempts.
- In the Date Completed column, the completion date and time of the completed attempt.
- In the Time Spent column, the time that the learner spent on the attempt. If an attempt is In Progress, this value is empty.
- The Date Created column is displayed only when the information is expanded. This column displays the date and time when the learner started the attempt.
- The Actions column contains actions only when the information is expanded. The action icons—View Learner's Attempt (the eye icon) and Delete Learner's Attempt—are available for learners who have started at least one attempt at the quiz.
Selecting the View Learner's Attempt icon (the eye) in the Actions column opens a page where you can see the quiz details, including all its questions and the learner’s answers for the current attempt:
- Each question that's answered correctly is marked with a green tick icon. Incorrect answers are marked with a red cross icon.
- Each question will have specified the number of points earned out of the total points available for this question.
- If the learner didn't answer a question, you'll see The Answer is missing instead of the learner's answer for this question.
- For Hot spot questions, you'll see the area the learner selected, as well as the correct area.
- For Free text answer questions, you can edit the number of points earned by the learner. To do this, select the Edit icon next to the number of Points earned. The completion status of the attempt and the quiz score will be recalculated after you change the number of points earned. The learner's answer is displayed with a blue background and is counted as correct.
- For Multiple answers and Multiple choice questions, correct answers are indicated by a green tick, incorrect answers by a red cross icon, and learners' answers are displayed with a blue background.
- For True or false questions, correct answers are indicated by a green tick and incorrect answers by a red cross icon. The learner's answer is displayed with a blue background.
- For Ordering and Matching question types, you can track the learner's answers in the Learner's Answers column and correct answers in the Correct Answers column.
- For Gap fill questions, when the learner's answer is correct, you can see the whole sentence with the inserted correct answers displayed with a green background. If the learner's answer is incorrect, it'll be displayed with a red background. You'll see both correct and incorrect answers submitted by the learner.
- For Short answer questions, you can track the learner's answer and, in the Correct Answers column, all answers that are set as correct and their percentage match (in brackets) to the 100 % correct answer. The display of earned points depends on the percentage match of the learner's answer.
NOTE
When an admin manually sets the completion status, this completion will be registered as a new attempt. The quiz details page will display the "The Answer is missing" message for all quiz questions as questions weren't answered by the learner in this attempt.
Selecting the Delete Learner's Attempt icon in the Actions column will delete this attempt. You'll need to confirm by selecting OK or you can Cancel the action.
Column filters
To search for specific details, you can use the column filters. You can apply a filter to each column, except for the Date Created and Actions columns. Filters can be applied to the entire list or for a learner's expanded information.
1. Hover over the column heading to which you want to apply a filter and select the Filter icon.
2. Complete the relevant fields.
3. Select Filter to apply the filters to the column. To clear the filter results, select Clear in the filter form.
View question statistics
Required role: catalog or course admin.
You can view statistics for each question in a quiz, together with learners' progress on them. The Question statistics page displays information about learners who are currently enrolled in the selected course. To view statistics for users who aren't currently enrolled in the course, the admin must enroll them in the course again.
To view question statistic details, follow these steps:
1. In the LMS365 Admin Center, go to Training Management > select a course > Course Management > Manage Course Content.
2. From the course Content section, select the relevant quiz to open its Actions panel and select Question Statistics.
3. On the opened Question Statistics page, select how you want to group the information from the filter drop-down list: By question or By learner.
When grouped by question, the number of learners who answered a question might not be the same for all questions because, for example, some learners might have had more than one attempt at a question, or the question might be part of a question pool where the selection of questions is random.
When grouped by question, the following information is displayed:
- In the Title column, quiz questions are displayed in alphabetical order. Expand a question to see information about the learners who answered this question in the quiz.
- In the Total answers column, the total number of answers submitted by learners for each question in the quiz is displayed. For individual learners, the number of answers they provided for this question in the quiz is displayed.
- In the Correct/incorrect answers column, the percentage of correct and incorrect answers provided by learners for each question in the quiz is displayed. For individual learners, the percentage of correct and incorrect answers they provided for this question in the quiz is displayed.
When grouped by learner, the following information is displayed:
- In the Name column, the learners who answered questions in the quiz are displayed. Select the expand arrow next to a learner's name to see information about each question in this quiz that this learner answered.
- In the Total answers column, the total number of answers provided by learners for the questions in the quiz is displayed. For each question, the number of answers the learner provided in this quiz is displayed.
- In the Correct/incorrect answers column, the percentage of correct and incorrect answers provided by learners for the questions in the quiz is displayed. For each question, the percentage of correct and incorrect answers the learner provided for this quiz is displayed.
NOTE
When a catalog admin limits the access of course admins to full learner's details, on the question statistic page, course admins won't see the By question and By learner filters, the list of learners who answered the questions, the total answers for each learner for each question, or the correct and incorrect percentage of answers for each learner for each question.
The course admin will still be able to track all the questions answered by learners, the total number of answers for each question, and the correct and incorrect percentage of answers for each question.
Edit quiz
The Edit quiz action enables you to add, edit, and delete questions for the selected quiz. On the quiz panel, you can also make changes to the structure of the quiz.
IMPORTANT
If you change the Quiz passing score on the Details and settings tab, the updated passing score will apply to learners' new and incomplete attempts. Changes will be applied when a learner continues an attempt and submits an answer. The passing score won't change for completed attempts.
To edit questions from a question pool directly from a quiz:
- If the Specific selection method was used to add questions to the quiz from the question pool, you can edit and delete the questions from the quiz editor. Any changes applied to questions via the quiz editor won't affect the question pool.
- If the Random selection method was used to add questions to the quiz, the questions in the quiz editor are grouped together under the question pool title. In brackets after the title, you can find the number of questions from this question pool that are used in the quiz. Selecting the Edit icon opens the Question selection panel and selecting the Delete icon deletes the group of questions.
Selecting a name in the Contacts column enables you to send an email to them if the contact name is a clickable link of blue color.
Select Save. Alternatively, from the Save drop-down menu, select Save and close and you'll be redirected to the Content section of the course.
NOTE
If you Cancel the changes, you'll be warned that changes you've made will be lost. Select OK to proceed or Cancel.
Hide quiz/Make quiz visible
The Hide quiz/Make quiz visible action enables you to change visibility status of the quiz. Hiding a quiz removes the quiz from the course home page and in the LMS365 course player where the learner takes the course. However, the quiz is still included in the course content and learners' progress on the quiz won't be affected.
To hide or make a quiz visible:
1. In the LMS365 Admin Center, go to Training Management > Select a course > Course Management > Manage Course Content.
2. From the course Content section, select the relevant quiz to open its Actions panel.
3. From the Actions panel, select Hide quiz/Make quiz visible (the available action depends on the current visibility status of the quiz).
The eye icon in the column of the Content section shows that the learning item is hidden.
Remove quiz from course
The Remove quiz from course action enables you to remove the selected quiz from a course.
Confirm that you want to remove the quiz from the course. Select Remove to confirm. Select Cancel to cancel the action.
NOTE
If you remove a quiz from a course, the quiz will be removed from the course content but will be available in the quiz storage.
Quiz language settings
LMS365 enables you to customize language files, change the wording of specific translations, or change the language of all text.
By default, the LMS365 Quiz language is English (United States) but this can be customized. The custom translation will be applied to the whole tenant.
