Finding courses and training plans

On the course catalog page, users can search for courses and training plans.

It can be done via the search field, the Categories filter, the Course Type filter, and the Course Session(s) Dates filter.

By default, all published courses and training plans are displayed in the course catalog.

 

 

NOTE: Courses and training plans in the course catalog are displayed to users according to their roles. This means, if users are not present in any course or training plan group (learners, administrators, visitors), the training will not be shown in the course catalog to them. Course catalog administrators see all training in the course catalog.

 

 

Searching via the search field

Users can search for courses and training plans in the Search Course Catalog field.

The search will look for words that contain the search term(s), not only words that start with the search term(s) used. The search will search in the following course and training plan field:

  • Title
  • Training type
  • Short or Long Description
  • Categories
  • Tags
  • Course admin and instructor

Users can enter several search terms separated by a space to find courses and training plans that are triggered by all entered search terms. In this way, the space will work as the AND command.

For example, if a user searches for "come admin" the course Introduction to LMS365 for Administrators is returned as a result because this course has the word Administrators in the Title field, and the word Welcome in the Long Description field.

Wildcards are not supported.

AND and OR are not supported as user commands.

Searching via filters

If filters are enabled, learners can filter courses and training plans by category, course type, and course session dates. The number of courses/training plans that correspond to the set filtering will be displayed in brackets next to the category/course type title.

The No Category checkbox is displayed only if there are training without categories.

The list of categories in the left-side menu allows filtering courses/training plans by category (you can configure what categories to display in the filters in the Course Catalog Settings) or No Category. To see all categories click the Show more+ button.

The list of course types in the left-side menu allows filtering courses/training plans by course type (you can configure what course types to display in the filters in the Course Catalog Settings). In brackets you can see the number of training of the each training type in the current course catalog.

Using the Course Session(s) Dates filter, you can set start and end date period of the course sessions (start and end dates of the course session should fall in the set period).

If there are no active course sessions for any courses, this filter is hidden. Classroom & Blended and Webinar courses will be filtered by start and end dates of the course sessions (courses without sessions will not be filtered). To clear the start and end date period click the Reset All button tight above the Course Session(s) Dates field.

 

 

NOTE: When filters are applied (Categories, Course Type, Course Date) and/or search is used, the search query is automatically placed in the URL, for example, https://elearningforce.sharepoint.com/sites/archive-2020-07-15T091506Z/sites/va-pa/SitePages/Course%20Catalog.aspx?lms365cc=%7B%22sd%22%3A%222017-12-15T21%3A00%3A00.000Z%22%2C%22ed%22%3A%222018-01-14T21%3A00%3A00.000Z%22%7D">https://elearningforce.sharepoint.com/sites/va-pa/SitePages/Course%20Catalog.aspx?lms365cc=%7B"sd"%3A"2017-12-15T21%3A00%3A00.000Z"%2C"ed"%3A"2018-01-14T21%3A00%3A00.000Z"%7D#.

The direct URL will navigate you to the course catalog with the already applied filtering.
