Progress on learning items in a course

Introduction

Each course may consist of several learning items, like learning modules, content packages, or quizzes. The learning modules can, in its turn, combine a number of learning items.

If you would like to get an overview of the progress with different learning items in a course and how each learner is progressing with the individual learning item of the course, this can be seen from the Content section of the course edit panel of the course in question.

This guide gives information on where to view the general progress with different learning items in a course, individual learner's progress on learning item of the course, the possibilities to view and manage learners' progress from this view, how to export a report on the learners' progress on a learning item.

 

General progress on learning items in a course

Required role: catalog or course admin.

To get an overview of the progress on all learning items in a course, navigate to the Content section of the course in question:

1. LMS365 Admin Center > Training Management.

2. Select the relevant course. From the Course management panel, select Manage Course Content.

In the opened Content section, you can compare the progress on different learning items in a course and understand what learning items that are performing well in terms of learner completion and where in the course learners get stuck.

The following information is presented in the columns: 

  • Name. The title of the learning item.
  • Visibility. The icon with a crossed over eye means either this learning item is hidden and will not be shown on the course home page or in the learning player or the hidden learning item may be used inside a learning module in which case it will still be visible to learners as part of that learning module. However, it will not be visible as a separate learning item.
  • Type. Shows the learning item type: Learning module, Quiz, Content package, Assessment, or External app. If a learning module contains such content items as documents, files, links, or multimedia, their progress can be tracked via the View Learners' Progress link of the learning module in question.
  • Published. Whether the learning item is published or not.
  • Number of Items. The number of elements the learning item consists of.
  • Course completion. Shows whether the learning item is set as a required to complete the course.
  • Progress. Shows how learners' progress with the learning item. The color indicator and percentage will give a quick indication of the progress status.
    • Not started. Means the learning item has not been started by learners yet.
    • In progress. Means learners have started the attempt, but have not completed it.
    • Failed. Means learners have failed to complete the last attempt or the learning item itself.
    • Completed. Means learners have successfully completed the learning item.

When no learners are enrolled in the course, the progress bar is grey.

Learner's progress on the learning items

Learner's progress on a learning module

Required role: catalog or course admin.

To view the detailed progress of the enrolled learners on the learning module, follow the steps:

1. From the LMS365 Admin Center > Training Management> Select the relevant course > Manage Course Content

2. Select the relevant learning module from the list of the learning items. On the Actions panel, select View Learners' Progress.

The View Learners' Progress action opens the learning module progress panel with the information on the enrolled in the course learners and possible actions to perform. NOTE   

To view the learner's progress details of the unenrolled learners, admin must re-enroll them in the course.

 

Learner's progress on a quiz

Required role: catalog or course admin.

To view the detailed progress on the quiz or view the question statistics of the quiz in the course for the enrolled learners, follow the steps:

1. From the LMS365 Admin Center > Training Management > Select the relevant course > Manage Course Content

2. In the opened Content section, select the relevant quiz from the list of learning items.

3. On the Actions panel, select View learners' details or Question statistics with regard to the required action.

The actions links open the relevant progress panel with the information on the enrolled in the course learners and possible actions to perform.

NOTE   

To view the learner's progress details of the unenrolled learners, admin must re-enroll them in the course.

Learner's progress on a content package

Required role: catalog or course admin.

The View Learner's Details action allows you to view the progress and the details on the selected content package of the enrolled in the course learners, the statistics on the attempts made by an individual learner.

 

NOTE   

To view the learner's details on the content package of the unenrolled learners, admin must re-enroll them in the course.

 

To view learners' progress with a content package, follow the steps:

1. Go to the LMS365 Admin Center >Training Management > Select the course.

2. On the Course management panel, select Manage Course Content.

3. In the Content section, select the relevant content package.

4. >On the Actions panel, select View Learners' Details.

On the opened Learners' Details page, you will find the learner's progress on the current content package.

Learner's progress on an assessment

Required role: catalog or course admin.

The View Learner's Details action allows you to view the completion status – Not Started or Completed – for assessments of the learners enrolled in the course.

To view learners' progress on an assessment:

1. Go to the LMS365 Admin Center >Training Management > Select the course.

2. On the Course Management panel, select Manage Course Content.

3. In the Content section, select the relevant assessment.

4. On the Actions panel, select View Learners' Details.

On the opened assessment progress panel, you will find progress details.

NOTE   

To view the learner's completion status for assessments of unenrolled learners, the admin must re-enroll them in the course.

Learner's progress on an external app

Required role: catalog or course admin.

The View Learner's Details action allows you to view the progress and the details on the selected external app of the enrolled in the course learners.

To view learners' progress on an external app, follow the steps:

1. Go to the LMS365 Admin Center >Training Management > Select the course.

2. >On the Course management panel, select Manage Course Content.

3. In the Content section, select the relevant external ap.

4. On the Actions panel, select View Learners' Details.

On the opened View Learners' Details page, you will find the learner's progress.
