How to set the color theme for LMS365 training pages

The color theme of the SharePoint site of courses and training plans are controlled by the SharePoint settings. If you wish to set or change the color theme of courses and training plans, and hereby control colors of action buttons, links, and the like, this setting will, therefore, have to be applied in SharePoint.

This can either be done via the LMS365 Admin Center, or directly in SharePoint. In this article, we will go through how to apply this setting via LMS365 and via SharePoint and how these two methods differ.

Applying color themes via SharePoint Site Theme Settings in LMS365

From the LMS365 Admin Center, you can change themes and colors of the LMS365 training pages within the current course catalog. Go to the LMS365 Admin Center > Settings > LMS Configuration > SharePoint Site Theme Settings. Please see this guide for more details.

This maneuver is very simple and enables course catalog admins and above to apply the color theme settings to either all future or all current and future training sites of the current course catalog. However, you can't control the color theme of a particular training site using this approach.

Applying color themes via SharePoint Settings

As a SharePoint site owner or if you have design permissions on the site, you can change the color theme of a training site directly in SharePoint. To do this:

  • Open the training home page > Settings (gear icon) at the top right corner > Change the look.

  • A sidebar panel will open. Select Themes and choose the site theme you want to apply.

NOTE: When a site is connected to a hub site, it automatically adopts the color theme of this site. The color theme will, therefore, need to be changed on the hub site level.

TIP:
To get most out of LMS365 we recommend to use SharePoint's default dark and light themes as we fully support their readability. Once you employ customized themes, we don't guarantee the readability of statuses. If you still want to customize themes, we recommend you you try it first to ensure that the text is readable.

This approach allows you to control the color theme of a particular site, as well as all sites connected to a hub site.
