LMS365 provides two ways of enabling learners to retake a course or training plan: the Voluntary Retake option or by using the capabilities of the Certificate expiry settings. Both options are configured in the Settings section of the training configuration panel.
In this article, we describe how to use the capabilities of the Certificate expiry settings to allow users to retake a course or training plan, both before and after the certificate expiry date.
In this article
- Use the Certificate expiry settings to allow the retake of a course or training plan after the certificate expiry date
- Use the Certificate expiry settings to allow the retake of a course or training plan before the certificate expiry date
Use the Certificate expiry settings to allow the retake of a course or training plan after the certificate expiry date
The Set Expiry Date as field enables you to specify how long the certificate remains valid after course or training plan completion. In the following image, after 365 days, the certificate status will automatically change to Expired, and the user will be able to retake the training after the certificate expires.

To enable users to retake training before the certificate expires, go to the LMS365 Admin Center > Catalog settings > Notifications > Certificate expiry reminder notification template. In the Send Reminder Emails field, set the number of days in advance of certificate expiry that users will be able to see the Retake option on My Training Dashboard. This defaults to 60 days before certificate expiry and the certificate status for the users will then change to Expiring.
Users might have several certificates with the Expired status.
To retake training, users should go to the training home page and select the Retake option. The progress will be reset and the training status will change to Not Started.
