LMS365 (Learn365) provides multiple ways of enabling learners to retake a course or training plan.

In this article, we describe how to use the Certificate expiry option in the Settings section of the course or training plan configuration panel to enable users to retake a course or training plan, both before and after the certificate expiry date.

Use the Certificate expiry settings to enable the retake of a course or training plan after the certificate expiry date

Required role: catalog or course admin.

To enable learners to retake training after the certificate expiry date, use one of the following options:

  • You can enable the automatic Forced retake option in the Settings section of the course or training plan configuration panel depending on the expiry date of the certificate. Once the certificate is expired, the forced retake will be initiated, and learners will receive a notification if they're enrolled in the course and the course is active.

For detailed steps how to set up the Certificates and Forced retake options, see the article for e-learning courses, instructor-led training, training plans.

  • The Set Expiry Date as field enables you to specify how long the certificate remains valid after course or training plan completion. In the following image, after 365 days, the certificate status will automatically change to Expired, and the user will be able to retake the training after the certificate expires.

To enable users to retake training before the certificate expires, use one of the following options:

  • You can enable the automatic Forced retake option in the Settings section of the course or training plan configuration panel depending on the expiry date of the certificate. As the certificate expiry date approaches, the forced retake will be initiated, and learners will receive a notification if they're enrolled in the course and the course is active.

  • Go to the LMS365 (Learn365) Admin Center > Catalog settings > Notifications > Certificate expiry reminder notification template.

In the Send Reminder Emails field, set the number of days in advance of certificate expiry. This defaults to 60 days before certificate expiry and the certificate status for the users will then change to Expiring.
